61% of the public think teaching is less valued than 5 years ago

According to a survey published yesterday, 61 per cent of the public think that the teaching profession is less valued than five years ago.

The YouGov poll, commissioned by the Chartered College of Teaching, also reveals that 53 per cent of teachers would not recommend teaching as a career, and that 78 per cent of the public agree that more recognition needs to be given to the work of teachers.
